The Civil Infrastructure Engineering and Architectural Design Study Program, Diponegoro University’s Vocational School, once again demonstrated its commitment to providing industry-based learning by holding a guest lecture featuring Building Information Modeling (BIM) practitioners from PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk.
This event was attended by students and lecturers and served as part of an effort to integrate the academic world and professional practice in the modern construction sector. During the guest lecture, the speakers presented on the implementation of BIM in large-scale construction projects, including the use of technology to improve planning efficiency, cross-disciplinary coordination, and control project costs and time.
The Head of the Civil Infrastructure Engineering and Architectural Design Study Program stated that this activity has the strategic goal of bridging the gap between the theory learned in college and the real needs of the construction industry. “This guest lecture is designed to provide students with direct exposure to industry best practices, particularly in the application of BIM, which is currently the new standard in construction project management,” he said.
Furthermore, the Head of the Study Program emphasized that the benefits of this activity extend not only to improving students’ technical knowledge but also to strengthening soft skills and job readiness. Students are expected to understand digital-based collaborative workflows, improve their construction technology literacy, and become more competitive in the workplace.
Furthermore, this activity also opens up opportunities for further collaboration between the Undip Vocational School and industry, particularly in developing market-driven curricula, internship programs, and applied research in the field of digital construction.
With this guest lecture, the Civil Infrastructure Engineering and Architectural Design Study Program further emphasizes its role as an adaptive, relevant, and industry-focused vocational education institution in the era of digital construction transformation.
